Plural Nouns:

Use a plural Noun when you are talking about two or more people, places or things.

Just add S to make the most nouns plural.

El plural de "hero" es heroes, añadiendo "-es" porque es un sustantivo en inglés que termina en "-o" precedida de una consonante, siguiendo la regla general de añadir "-es" a palabras como "potato" o "tomato", aunque existen excepciones como "piano" (pianos). 


Regla y Explicación 

  1. Palabras en -o: En inglés, muchos sustantivos que terminan en "-o" forman su plural añadiendo "-es".
  2. Consonante + o: Esta regla se aplica especialmente cuando la "-o" va precedida de una consonante (como en hero, potato, tomato).
  3. Ejemplos:
  4. Excepciones: Palabras como "piano" o "photo" forman su plural añadiendo solo "-s" (pianos, photos). 

Uso Correcto: 

  • "Heroes" (con -es) es la forma correcta para referirse a personas valientes o personajes admirables, como en "Not all heroes wear capes" (No todos los héroes llevan capa).
  • "Heros" (sin -es) es incorrecto para el significado común, a menos que te refieras a un tipo específico de sándwich ("hero sandwich") o a un nombre propio/género de peces, lo cual es menos común.     




En inglés, los sustantivos nombres que terminan en "-o", como tomato (tomate) y potato (patata), generalmente forman su plural añadiendo -es (tomatoes, potatoes) porque son palabras de origen extranjero (principalmente español e italiano) que conservaron esta forma plural, aunque la regla más fácil es memorizar estos casos, ya que no hay una regla simple para todas las palabras que terminan en "-o" en inglés, pero tomatoes y potatoes son ejemplos clásicos de esta excepción que se añade "-es". 


La Regla General y la Excepción: 

  • Regla General: La mayoría de los sustantivos en inglés añaden una -s para formar el plural (ej. cat -> cats, book -> books).
  • Excepción para -o: Los sustantivos que terminan en "-o" a menudo toman -es en plural, especialmente si son de origen español (como tomato, potato) o italiano (como mosquito, piano [aunque algunos aceptan -s]). 

Ejemplos: 

  • Tomato (tomate) -> Tomatoes (tomates).
  • Potato (patata) -> Potatoes (patatas).
  • Hero (héroe) -> Heroes.
  • Echo (eco) -> Echoes. 

¿Por qué -es? 

  • La adición de -es es una forma de mantener la pronunciación original o simplemente una convención que se estableció para estas palabras prestadas, a menudo de lenguas romances (español, italiano, portugués). 

En resumen: Para palabras como tomato y potato, la forma correcta es añadir -es al final para formar el plural, una característica común en sustantivos de origen extranjero en inglés.

9-The plural form of some nouns is the same as the singular form:

*Notes: When we are talking about different  kinds of fish, the plural Noun can be fishes
