Punctuation marks are sings such as periods, commas and question marks. They are used in sentences to make the meaning clear.
1-Period (.)
Put a period at the end of a sentence.
Examples:
1-Tim lent me his skateboard.馃浌
2- The train arrived late.
2-Comma (,)
Put a comma between items in a list.
Examples:
1- She likes reading, swimming, playing baseball and going to the movies.
2- Tom, Annie, Sue and Lina all went shopping together.
•Put a comma after Yes and No.
Examples:
1- Do you speak Spanish? ``Yes, I like it very much..’’
2- Is this your house? ``Yes, it is. ’’
• You also put a comma before or after the name of the person you are speaking to.
Examples:
1- Hello, Mr. Carter.
2- Good bye, Andrew.
• Commas are used before please and thank you.
Examples:
1-I’ve had enough to eat, thank you.
2- Can you tell me your name, please?
3- Question Marks (?)
Write a question mark at the end of a question, instead of a period.
Examples:
1- Can you hear me, Annie?
2- is there someone knocking at the door?
