The use of there is and there are and there isn’t and there aren’t


 Use there is and are to say what exists or what you can have. 

Use there is with singular nouns and there are with plural nouns:

Examples 

1- There is a tree in our garden.

2- There is girl called sofi in my class.

3-There is fish for dinner 🥘 

4-There is nothing to do when it rains.

5- There is a cat sitting on the bench 

6- there are cows in the field.

7- There are some very big ships in the harbor today.

*Notes: the contraction for there is is: there’s.



There isn't" y "there aren't" son contracciones del verbo "to be" (is/are) en oraciones negativas en inglés: 
  • "There isn't" se usa para oraciones negativas con sustantivos singulares. Por ejemplo, 
  • "There isn't a pharmacy near the hotel". 

  • "There aren't" se usa para oraciones negativas con sustantivos plurales. 

  • Por ejemplo, "There aren't any restaurants near the hotel". 
Para hacer preguntas, se invierte el orden de las palabras: "is there" y "are there". 
Para hacer preguntas negativas, se usa "isn't there". 
En oraciones negativas con sustantivos plurales o incontables, se usa el pronombre "any" (algún, ninguno).
 Por ejemplo, "There isn't any money in his wallet".
