Present perfect have/has + past participle:


 

The present perfect tense is formed by using the auxiliary verb “have” or “has” with the past participle of the main verb. This tense is used to describe an action that started in the past and is still going on. 


Examples 

“I have eaten”

“Olga has promised to help me”

“They’ve been on holiday twice this year”

“I’ve lived in Oslo since I was born”


How to form a present perfect sentence 

Choose a subject:


Add the auxiliary verb “have” or “has”

Add the past participle form of the verb

Add the rest of the sentence


When to use the present perfect tense:


To talk about something that happened at an unknown time


To talk about something that happened in the past and continues now


To talk about something that happened repeatedly in the past


To talk about something that finished recently


To talk about something that changed over time


To talk about life experiences.
