The active voice:B2- intermediate:

Active voice at B2 level Let's explore it:

*What is active voice?:

In active voice, the subject performs the action described by the verb. It's often clearer and more direct than passive voice.

*Why use active voice?

1. *Clarity: Active voice makes it clear who is performing the action.

2. Directness:

Active voice can make your writing more engaging and dynamic.

3. *Conciseness*: Active voice often requires fewer words than passive voice.

*Examples:*

1. "The manager wrote the report." (Subject "manager" performs the action)

2. "The team is developing a new software." (Subject "team" performs the action)

*Forming active voice:*

Use the base form of the verb or add -s/-es for third person singular (he/she/it).

*Common active voice structures:*

1. Simple present: S + V (e.g., "I write emails.")

2. Present continuous: S + am/is/are + V-ing (e.g., "I am writing a report.")

3. Past simple: S + V-ed (e.g., "I wrote the letter.")

Active voice is when the subject of a sentence performs the action, making it direct and clear, as in "The cat ate the food". At the B2 level, understanding how active voice works is key, especially when contrasted with passive voice, which focuses on the object receiving the action.

Examples of active voice include "The family boarded the train" or "He designed the monument".

Key characteristics of active voice

* Subject performs the action: The subject is the "doer" of the verb.

* Subject-verb-object structure: This is the most common and direct sentence structure (e.g., "The cat ate the food").

* Clarity and directness: It creates a more concise and powerful sentence.

Examples at a B2 level:

* Present simple: "Michelle's mom visits the library regularly." (Subject: Michelle's mom; Verb: visits).

* Past simple: "Karol and Peter went to a concert last night." (Subject: Karol and Peter; Verb: went).

* Present continuous: "Polly is cooking a meal." (Subject: Polly; Verb: is cooking).

* Future simple: "They will send him ) away to school." (Subject: They; Verb: will send)
