Verbs with adverbs and prepositions at a B2 level include phrasal verbs (e.g., put up with, break in) and dependent prepositional verbs (e.g., apologize for, agree with, depend on). Phrasal verbs combine a verb with an adverb, a preposition, or both, often creating a new meaning, while dependent prepositions are fixed combinations that are always followed by a specific preposition. 


Phrasal verbs 

* verb + adverb: throw away

* verb + preposition: ask for

* verb + adverb + preposition: put up with 


Dependent prepositional verbs:


* Verb + for:

    * apologize for something. Example: "He apologized for being late".


    * depend on something. Example: "It depends on the weather".


    * wait for. Example: "They are waiting for the bus".


* Verb + at:

    * arrive at a specific place. Example: "They are arriving at the airport".


    * good at something. Example: "She is good at singing".


* Verb + in:

    * participate in something.

    * arrive in a city or country.


* Verb + with:

    * agree with someone.

    * argue with someone.


* Verb + to:

    * talk to or talk with someone.

    * belong to someone. Example: "Who does this book belong to?".


* Verb + about:

    * complain about something.

    * dream about something.


* Verb + to:

    * look forward to something. Example: "I'm looking forward to the party".


* Other examples:

    * recover from

    * object to

    * remind of

    * laugh at

- She sings beautifully (adverb describes the verb "sings")

- He drives slowly (adverb describes the verb "drives")


*Verb + Preposition:*


- She looks at the picture (preposition "at" shows the relationship between "looks" and "picture")


- He depends on his friends (preposition "on" shows the relationship between "depends" and "friends")


*Common verb + preposition combinations:*


- look at

- listen to

- depend on

- believe in

- agree with


*Common verb + adverb combinations:*


- speak fluently

- drive carefully

- think deeply

- work hard
