Conducting a survey: B2- intermediate:

Conducting a B2 English level survey involves clear, concise questions, using appropriate question types (multiple choice, scales, open-ended), structuring it logically (intro, body, conclusion), and potentially writing a formal report on results using headings and bullet points, focusing on clear language and avoiding bias for better comprehension and analysis. Start by defining goals, choosing a sample, drafting questions with simple vocabulary, distributing, and analyzing data to draw conclusions.

1. Planning & Design (B2 Focus: Structure & Clarity)

* Define Objectives: Clearly state what you want to find out.

* Target Audience: Decide who to survey (e.g., classmates, school community).

* Question Types: Mix clear, simple multiple-choice, rating scales (e.g., 1-5), and a few key open-ended questions for detail.

* Simple Language: Use clear, uncomplicated vocabulary and grammar.

* Structure: Include an introduction (purpose, time estimate), main questions, and a thank you. Use headings if writing a report.

2. Example Questions (B2 Level)

* Multiple Choice: "Which social media platform do you use most often? (a) Instagram, (b) TikTok, (c) Facebook, (d) Other".

* Rating Scale: "On a scale of 1 (Not at all) to 5 (Very much), how much do you enjoy learning English?".

* Open-Ended: "What is your biggest challenge when studying English, and why?".

3. Conducting the Survey (B2 Focus: Interaction & Formality)

* Introduction: "Hello, I'm doing a short survey about [topic]. It will take about 3 minutes. Would you mind answering a few questions?".

* During: Ask questions clearly, check understanding, and listen actively.

* Formal Option: For a written report, use a formal tone (e.g., "The survey aimed to investigate...").

4. Analyzing & Reporting (B2 Focus: Synthesis & Formal Writing)

* Analyze: Tally responses, look for trends and patterns.

* Report: Use headings, bullet points, and simple sentences to present findings (e.g., "Results showed that 70% of students prefer online learning").

* Conclusion: Summarize key findings and perhaps offer a personal opinion or recommendation.
