The simple present passive voice in English grammar is used to describe actions that are currently happening or that are repeated. It’s also used to state facts or universal truths.
Structure
Subject: The subject of the sentence
Auxiliary verb: The verb “to be” (am/is/are)
Past participle: The past participle of the main verb
“By”: An optional word that can be used to identify the agent of the action
Examples
Positive: “The packages are delivered by them”
Negative: “The car is not repaired”
Interrogative: “Is the house cleaned?”
When to use the passive voice:
1-When the focus is on the action, not the agent.
2-When the agent is unknown, unimportant, or obvious.
3-When the agent is “people in general”
4-To express ideas in a polite or formal way.
Active and passive voice examples:
1-Active: “They deliver the packages”
2-Passive: “The packages are delivered by them”
3-Active: “The gardener waters the flowers every evening”
4-Passive: “The flowers are watered by the gardener every evening”
