Use of Would: B1- intermediate:

We use would when you are asking someone to do something:

Examples:

1-Would you please stop making that noise?

2- Would you pass me the book please?

3- Please, would you close the door?

4-Would you like another drink?

5-Which cake would you like?

*The contraction of would not is: Wouldn’t.

1- Wouldn’t it be better to wait?

We use would to express unreal situations we usually use this modal verb when we are making a supposition of an occurrence:

Examples:

1- If i were you, I would pay all my bills first. (Condition)

2-I would pay all my bills, If I were you.

Disposition/ contrary to fact or condition.

Asking questions:

Examples:

1- Where would you go if you had the chance to travel for a year?

2- What would you wear for your honeymoon?

3- What would you do if you were older?
