Countable and uncountable nouns: Quantifiers: B2- intermediate:

 B2 level, mastery of countable and uncountable nouns focuses on nuance, using specific quantifiers (many/much/a few/a little), and handling nouns that change meaning based on countability(e.g., paper vs. a paper). Key, often abstract, nouns like advice, information, equipment, and furniture are exclusively uncountable, requiring singular verbs.

Key B2 Countable/Uncountable Nouns Concepts:

* Uncountable Nouns: Cannot be pluralized or used with 'a/an'. They always use singular verbs.

* Examples: Accommodation, Advice, Behaviour, Damage, Equipment, Furniture, Information, Knowledge, Luggage, Money, News, Progress, Research, Rubbish, Traffic, Travel .

* Countable Nouns: Have singular/plural forms and use 'a/an' in singular .

* Hybrid Nouns: Contextual:

* Some nouns shift meaning:

* Experience: (Uncountable = knowledge/skill, Countable = an event) .

* Room: (Uncountable = space, Countable = a specific room)

* Paper: (Uncountable = material, Countable = a newspaper or document)

* Coffee: (Uncountable = liquid, Countable = a cup of coffee)

Quantifiers & Articles at B2:

* Both: Some, Any, A lot of / Lots of, Plenty of.

* Uncountable Only: Much, A little, Little, A great deal of, A large amount of.

* Countable Only: Many, A few, Few, A large number of, Several.

* Pluralizing uncountable nouns (e.g., items of furniture, not furnitures)

* Using much in positive sentences (instead, use a lot of)

Examples in Context:

* Correct: "I have a lot of work to do" (Uncountable)

* Correct: "I have a few ideas" (Countable)

* Correct: "We need a piece of equipment for this" (Using a countable phrase to count an uncountable noun.
