combine two or more words (often hyphenated) to act as a single adjective before a noun, crucial for descriptive fluency. Key structures include adjective/noun + participle (e.g., hard-working, time-consuming), noun + adjective (e.g., sugar-free), or number + noun (e.g., 10-year-old), frequently using hyphens to avoid ambiguity. 


Common B2 Compound Adjectives Categories & Examples:


* Personality/Behavior:


    * Absent-minded (forgetful)

    

    * Easy-going (relaxed)

    

    * Strong-willed (determined)

    

    * Narrow-minded (intolerant)

Formation Rules & Usage:


* Hyphens: Use hyphens when the adjective comes before the noun (e.g., "a well-knownartist"). 


* Usually, no hyphen is needed if it comes after the verb (e.g., "The artist is well known").


* Number + Noun: Always singular. A 30-minute show (NOT a 30-minutes show).


* -ed endings: Used for "having" or "with" (e.g., blue-eyed, left-handed).

* That was a thought-provoking presentation.


* She is a well-respected journalist in this field.


* I can't work with that tight-fisted manager.


* This is a high-quality product.


* The project was a time-consuming process.
